Underachievement: Characteristics, Causes, and Reversal Underachievement has been a topic of research for more than 40 years. It has become clear that underachieving students are not simply unmotivated. Much more complex dynamics are at play. This section will first explore the characteristics of underachieving students, then some of the causes of underachieving behavior, and lastly some of the factors that can reverse underachieving patterns. |
