A Note to Project Web Designers:
As we begin to think about designing our web sites, it can be helpful to look over some existing sites to think about which layouts we like and to get ideas for features to include in ours (or design elements we want to stay away from!).
The sites below are meant to get us thinking about two key elements: site page layout and navigation. As you explore, don't read the content as much as look at how the web pages are laid out and how you, the reader, can move around the site.
Think about these questions while you explore: What do you like? What do you not like? What's possible? What's usable?
Design Questions to Think About:
Who is the audience?
How long does it take to load (from a modem)?
Is the page too open, have too much blank space? Too cluttered/busy?
How easy is it to find the information you want?
How easy is it to discover information you didn't know you wanted (but now do)?
How easy is it to navigate through the site?
How easy is it to use?
Does it look professional? Amateurish?
How does it look on a large screen? On a small screen?
