Managing the Technology-Rich Classroom
Teachers need to find ways to make their
technology-based work with students easier on themselves.
One of the things that can drive teachers crazy are
the seemingly unending questions from students about how
to use the technology. A teacher can reduce the number of
questions she has to answer by providing students with
help sheets and written instructions (Many students like
to call them "cheat sheets." Industrial technology
teachers have used them for a long time and call them
"job guides.") You can find "Cheat
Sheets" for many kinds of technology-based projects
at the M.S.A.D. #54 (Skowhegan, Maine) web site.

Another problem teachers face with their students
using technology involves students finding useful
websites on the Internet. Students find too many
resources or can't discern which will be relevant and
reliable. Or in the process of searching for information
on one topic, they end up finding information of interest
to them, but that doesn't help them with their school
work. One solution for this problem is for the teacher to
spend a little time finding websites that are relevant
and reliable and will be useful to her students, then
create a simple web page that will be a "link list" to
these useful sites. Here is an example of an educator
created link list for a unit on the Civil
War.
