ResulTech Schools

ResulTech creates schools that focus on making school a meaningful experience for students, working with districts (and states) to create proven, evidence-based educational programs of real world learning to engage students. By special arrangement, Dr. Muir shares a joint appointment with the University of Maine at Farmington, McMEL, and ResulTech.

ResulTech attempts to identify the innovative educational programs that reach students and help address many of the challenges faced by schools and districts today:

  1. Finding challenging and engaging programs to interest all learners

  2. Promoting economic development

  3. Reengaging over aged, underachievers

  4. Reducing minority isolation

  5. Supporting reluctant and struggling learners

  6. Educating students who don't learn the way schools often teach

Because many students need more than direct instruction, teachers in the schools we need practice “high payoff” motivators, such as these:

  1. Project-based learning

  2. Connecting with students

  3. Connecting learning to the community and the students’ lives

  4. Focusing on higher order thinking activities

  5. Learning by doing

  6. Making learning interesting

  7. Involving students in designing their learning
